The 4-H Sew Much Fun to Learn to Sew Day Camp was a lot of fun. Cherokee County 4-H hosted the summer day camp so youth could learn to sew. This is a basic learn-to-sew class for youth ages 8-18. They learn about using a sewing machine and hand sewing techniques. The day camp was 4 days, in August and is becoming an annual event. No experience is necessary. This event is held at the Extension Education Annex, 699B Connahetta Street, Murphy, NC.
This year the participants made fall place-mats for their dinning tables, learned about hand stitching for quilting, and made their own plush stuffed cats. They also learned about ladder stitches when sewing their stuffed animals heads on so the stitches didn't show.
Some of the youth entered items that they created in the NC Mountain State Fair.
