We are excited to offer the Extension Master Gardener Initial Training for Cherokee County beginning January 7, 2026. The training will be held at the Extension Annex . Classes will be each Wednesday through April 15, 2026 from 9 a.m. until noon. The cost of the training is $120.00 (Take advantage of this price in 2026. The class cost will be increasing to $175.00 at out next offering). Topics and presentation of the training include (topics and dates of topics may change):

Registration for the training must be done through Eventbrite. There are no refunds for the course and must be paid by credit card. The deadline to register and complete payment for the course is November 3. The Extension Gardener Handbook can be purchased on Amazon or Bookshop.org. The book is also available as an online document. The hard copy or online version is required for the training.

There can be only two absences from the course and an electronic device will be needed. Access to the internet will be important (guest access to the wifi can be provided at our office or Extension Annex to the class participants). As a Master Gardener intern you will have access to the Master Gardener website. The website includes vital information and allows you to enter volunteer hours. 40 hours of volunteering is required the first year and after the internship 20 hours of volunteering and 10 hours of continuing education is required each year to keep the Master Gardener status. The continuing education can be done for free online. To be a part of the training you must be a Cherokee County resident.
