Donation Station every Second Saturday (May-Sep)

The Extension Donation Station will be held each Second Saturday at the Murphy Farmers Market! The Donation Station helps to supply nutritious food to those in need by donating healthy, local food to food pantries in Cherokee County. This supports our local growers as well as diverts food waste at the end of the market day.

For those who would like to participate, come to the Murphy Farmers Market on May 10, June 14, July 12, August 9, and September 13! While visiting local growers, purchase extra produce and bring it to the Donation Station Tent. At the end of the market day the food will be picked up by a local food pantry and distributed to food insecure populations in Cherokee County.

We are currently seeking volunteers to help support our efforts. The Donation Station is volunteer-based, with 4 community volunteers leading the efforts currently: Denise Cintino, EMFV, Joanne Schart, EMFV, Angela Henningfeld, EMFV, and Joan Miller, EMGV.

Volunteer training is available for community members who are interested in assisting with the Donation Station. It is our hope to have enough volunteers to expand to other markets in the area.

*EMFV: Extension Master Food Volunteer , *EMGV: Extension Master Gardener Volunteer
