Collapse ▲Grape Creek Homemaker ECA Gives Back
The Extension Community Association is comprised of many extraordinary volunteers that give back to the community through the giving of their time and talents. We want to recognize the Grape Creek Homemaker ECA Club for their efforts and contributions of service and donations this year in 2024.
Bibs for Nursing Homes
In February the Grape Creek ECA club made bibs which were donated to a local nursing home. These skillful members often use their sewing skills to give back to the community by making various items such as cancer heart pillows, bibs and blankets.
Blankets and Bibs for Pregnancy Center
Through the Spring and Summer of this year, the Grape Creek Homemakers worked diligently on making bibs and blankets for the Murphy Pregnancy Center.
ECA Hosts Veteran’s Dinner
This Veterans Day the Grape Creek ECA sponsored and hosted their annual Veterans Day Dinner. The Veteran’s Dinner was located at Ebenezer Baptist Church with 50 served.
Bears & Blankets for Children served by REACH Program
Robin Johnson, Grape Creek Homemaker, makes bears to give to Reach for children from bad situations. She also makes the blankets and will be training the Mayor’s Rising Stars to make blankets to give to the less fortunate. We are so proud of Robin and her many talents and helping numerous people in nursing homes and many children over the years.
Special Christmas Gifts for Children’s Home
Lastly, the Grape Creek ECA ladies made homemade Book Pillows which were donated this December to the Truett Baptist Children’s Home in Hayesville, NC. Each book pillow was embroidered with the recipient’s name on it for a special Christmas gift they can cherish. Sue Rhodes, County ECA President said, “I am so proud of our most talented giving ladies. They are always thinking of others throughout the year and what we can do to help. What a blessing to be involved with these most precious friends.”
Annual ECA Christmas Dinner
Each year the Extension Community Association ladies gather for an annual Christmas celebration and to exchange gifts. This years Christmas gathering was held at Mariolino’s Italian Restaurant in Murphy, NC.
