ECA:  “Giving Trees” Spread Warmth for the Holidays

The Extension Community Association (ECA) Sit & Knit Club has launched a heartwarming initiative to help Cherokee County residents stay warm this winter. Through their dedication to craft and community service, members of the Sit & Knit Club have hand-knit or crocheted cozy hats, scarves, blankets, and gloves to be placed on two Christmas trees, known as “Giving Trees.” These trees, located at Murphy Public Library and Andrews Public Library, are adorned with handmade items available for anyone in need to take for free.

This thoughtful project highlights the spirit of giving and emphasizes the importance of community support during the colder months. The Giving Trees serve as a symbol of warmth and generosity, inviting anyone in need to help themselves to the carefully crafted items.

The ECA Sit & Knit Club and Cherokee County libraries have partnered to make this effort a reality, demonstrating the strength of community collaborations. The libraries are thrilled to support the club’s initiative by providing high-traffic locations where community members can easily access the items.

The Giving Trees will be on display at Murphy and Andrews Public Libraries throughout the holiday season, with items restocked as needed. The ECA Sit & Knit Club encourages community members to visit the libraries, take what they need, and enjoy the warmth and care knit into each piece.
