Collapse ▲Eli Setless, a 4-H’er from Cherokee County, attended the annual North Carolina Association of County Commissioners (NCACC) Youth Voice, which was held in Winston Salem, North Carolina August 9-10. The event is sponsored and supported by the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners.
North Carolina 4-H and the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service partnered for the 15th year with the NCACC on a multi-year initiative to increase youth involvement in county government. This initiative helps youth learn more about county government as well as how to become more involved in local decision making.
For more information on the 4-H program in Cherokee County, please contact Shannon Coleman, at shannon_coleman@ncsu.edu or call 828-837-2210 ext. 4.
4-H is North Carolina’s largest youth development organization, equipping 229,500 young people each year with the skills to succeed and improve the world around them. 4-H programs and camps encourage young people to “learn by doing,” helping them to develop into active, contributing citizens. NC State Extension and the Cooperative Extension Program at N.C. A & T State University coordinate 4-H programs statewide. NC State Extension is the local and statewide outreach provider of North Carolina’s preeminent research enterprise – NC State University. NC State Extension translates research-based knowledge in the areas of agriculture, food and nutrition, and 4-H youth development into everyday solutions that create economic, intellectual and societal prosperity for North Carolina.
