Cherokee County 4-H loves to partner with Cherokee County teachers and schools to bring 4-H School Enrichment programs to the classroom. 4-H School Enrichment is a sequence of learning experiences for groups of youth, in cooperation with school officials during school hours to support the school curriculum. We have many 4-H school enrichment programs that we can offer local teachers to enhance their classroom learning opportunities in the true 4-H hands-on “learn by doing” approach.
North Carolina 4-H is proud to provide educators of all kinds with high-quality, research-based teaching materials. We specialize in translating cutting-edge university research in
- health, and
- civic engagement
into lesson plans and STEM units that feature hands-on, experiential learning and an interdisciplinary approach to real-world problems for elementary, middle, and high school-aged youth. All of our materials:
- Are designed by content area experts from North Carolina State University and North Carolina A&T State University, as well as, National 4-H
- Undergo a rigorous vetting process, including field tests and revisions
- Are aligned to North Carolina and National K-12 educational standards
Currently we have eight classrooms across three elementary schools participating in the “Hatching Classroom Projects” in their 2nd grade classrooms. We also have 4 classrooms participating in the 2nd grade “Winged Wonders” curriculum. And we have 5 classrooms participating in the 1st grade “The Busy World of Bees.”
We invite home school families to check out our curriculum as well because we are not just for public schools. If you would like to check our more of our curriculum resources visit: NC 4-H Curriculum and for a brief overview of our 4-H curriculum visit: 4-H Curriculum Overview.
If you see other 4-H curriculum you are interested in please give me a call and I will help guide you through how you can get curriculum and some of our 4-H resources for free for your home school or public school classroom.
