Lifelong Improvements Through Fitness Together (L.I.F.T.) is an evidence-based exercise program focused on helping older adults age in place. Texana Community Center hosted LIFT exercise classes, which were led by certified instructor and Family & Consumer Sciences Extension agent, Marlana Baker. During each hour long session, participants were guided through a warm up, 8 full body exercises, and cool down. Nutrition education and healthy recipes were provided at the end of each session. A Functional Fitness Test was conducted before and after the program for ten participants with the following results:
- 100% improved in parameters of flexibility and balance
- 90% improved in strength
- 90% improved in endurance

Participants were surveyed after the 8 week program with excellent results!
- 80% consume more fruits and vegetables than before
- 90% consume less sugar and sodium than before
- 90% increased their physical activity
- 100% increased knowledge of food safety
- 100% are more likely to utilize local food sources
- 100% are more likely to set personal goals
- 100% would recommend L.I.F.T. to another person

I intend to continue at home to further do exercises that will help in my health walk. I really enjoyed the fellowship that we had with all the ladies that attended the program.
