The 4-H Fly Tying & Fishing Club is starting back up for 2021. We are excited to start meeting face to face again, with a few restrictions.

width="396" height="304" We are changing our meeting days to the second and fourth Thursdays of each month Youth should come immediately after school, we will start the meetings by 3:30 p.m. The club meets at the Extension Education Room next to the Cherokee County Parks and Rec office behind the Old Rock Gym. The address is 699 Conaheeta Street, Murphy. Turn on Conaheeta Street and take the 2nd left turn. The first left on Conaheeta Street is the Murphy Fitness Center and the second left will take you behind the Old Rock Gym to the parking area for our meeting room. Look for the 4-H Clover Signs.

All youth grades 6-12, no matter what school or if they are homeschooled are welcome to join. Students should check to see if they are allowed to ride a bus from the Murphy Middle & High School to Conaheeta Street. Meetings usually wrap up around 5 p.m. unless members need to finish up tying a fly. Parents should be ready to pick members up by 5 p.m.

width="190" height="146"The members learn to tie flies, learn how to cast so no previous experience is necessary. The club is free to join. Members will also be learning about the environment and different insects and creatures that they are tying fly’s to mimic.

Please, due to COVID-19 restrictions, go ahead and enroll in the club so we know how many to expect for the first meeting. Enrollment is free. Also, this will allow us to make sure we have enough materials for everyone. To enroll go to 4-H Online 2.0 – this site has a link to the enrollment page and some helpful information on how to enroll.
