Staying Healthy Through Exercise

(Updated: Aug. 4, 2025, 10:06 a.m.)

Families at the Peachtree Community Summer Kick Off event on June 22, 2024 learned about ways to stay healthy this summer through an outreach effort from Cherokee County Extension. An obstacle course was set up for families to complete together and as a prize, they received a frisbee to take home to continue moving this Summer!

Obstacle Course

Recommendations for children and adolescents ages 6 through 17 years, are for at least one hour or more of moderate to vigorous physical activity each day!

Summer Fun Obstacle

Families tried samples of infused water and were encouraged to drink water as a primary drink of choice, while limiting sugar sweetened beverages. Almost all of the children gave the infused water a thumbs up and many parents were guided in the steps to recreate the infused water at home.

Infused Water
Each family also received in their take home bag resources on food assistance/SNAP and help available through the More In My Basket program on application assistance. If you are interested in this resource please visit morefood.org
