Marlana Baker, the Family & Consumer Sciences Agent for Cherokee County, is leading a comprehensive "In the Kitchen" class series designed to turn local residents into confident home cooks. Running through December 2026, this series offers a mix of traditional skills and modern convenience.
What’s on the Menu?
The series covers a wide range of culinary and preservation topics. There is truly something for every skill level:
- Modern Essentials: Learn the ropes with Air Fryer 101 or simplify your evenings with One Dish Wonders.
- The Art of Preservation: Master the science of food safety with Canning 101, Waterbath Canning, Pressure Canning, and Dehydrating.
- From Scratch Basics: Get hands-on with Pasta Making, Spice Making, and creating a Versatile Pantry.
- Seasonal Specialties: Learn to create thoughtful, delicious Edible Gifts—perfect for the holiday season.
These classes aren't just about recipes; they are about building sustainable habits and kitchen confidence. You will learn hands-on techniques, ensuring your home-cooked meals are safe, nutritious, and delicious.

When: Classes are scheduled throughout the year, concluding in December 2026.
