Farm School Series 2024

Welcome to Farm School 2024.  This is the 3rd year that Cherokee and Graham County will be working together to provide you with classes related to farming, gardening, and agriculture.   Some of the classes are free and some requires we charge a fee to recover cost.   To register, click on the classes below:

March 14, 2024-Pesticide Training For Private Applicators  (V Training):

Learn how the quality of the water that is used in a pesticide application can affect the effectiveness and results of the application. Participants with a private pesticide license will receive 2 hours of credit toward license renewal.

March 28, 2024-Planning a Pesticide Application (X Training):

Learn the Importance of Planning Your Pesticide Application and what to expect from a Pesticide Investigation.  This class will provide 2 hours of credit in the A,B,G,H,I,K,L,M,N,O,T, D and X designations.

May 8 thru June 19, 2024-Firescape Training (Virtual except for 1 in-person meeting May 8 at 7pm )

Learn practices that a homeowner can adopt to help protect the home and neighborhood such as fuel breaks; cleaning the roof and gutters and trees from leaves; tree and plant spacing in the landscape. The Firescape Training is a self-paced, online course that can be completed in the comfort of your home and will include a blend of video presentations, activities, and online instruction.  The knowledge participants gain can be used to educate communities on firescaping and the wildfire risk reduction measures can be used to protect their home also.

This self-paced, online course can be completed in the comfort of your home and will include a blend of video presentations, activities, and online instruction. Coursework instructions will be provided to participants weekly in a virtual meeting for 6 weeks.

There will be one in-person meeting on May 8 at 7 p.m. in the meeting room at 699 Connaheeta Street to provide an introduction to the course.  You must attend the meeting and the remainder of the training will be online.

Ag Options Informational Meeting (TBD):

Each year we host an Ag Options Grant Informational Meeting.  The date has not been determined but is normally held the last week of August.  We will provide a registration link when the date is known.
