The Extension & Community Association (ECA) of Cherokee County invites you to be part of a dynamic volunteer group that strengthens families through leadership development, volunteer service, and educational opportunities.

Why Join ECA?

When you become a member of ECA, you join a powerful network of individuals committed to making a real difference. From crafting comfort items for veterans and military families, to hosting educational workshops and supporting residents with special needs—our projects are as varied as the people we serve.

Monthly Meetings:

  • Grape Creek Homemakers ECA: Third Thursday 9:00 a.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church
  • Unaka ECA: Third Tuesday 10:00 a.m. at Unaka Community Center

Join a Special Interest Group!
Each month, our Special Interest Groups gather to socialize and work on community-focused projects. You’re invited to attend and experience the joy of giving back while doing something you love. All meetings and classes below are held at the Extension Education Annex (699 Connahetta Street, Murphy)

Monthly Meetings:

  • Sit & Knit Daytime ECA – 2nd & 4th Thursday @ 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.
  • Sit & Knit Evening ECA – 4th Monday @ 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.
  • Sew Much Fun Sew Club ECA Open Sew – 4th Friday @ 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. Registration required: go.ncsu.edu/cherokeecounty

We also host regular sewing and crafting workshops – perfect for sharpening your skills or trying something new! We’d love to welcome you into the ECA family.

  • Sewing for a Cause Workshop– Saturday November 8 & November 15 @ 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. (Give back with your sewing skills to sew canvas totes for REACH of Cherokee County) Sew a shift or sew the whole day! Registration Required: go.ncsu.edu/cherokeecounty
