Welcome Daniel Ferreira, New Digital Skills Agent

We are delighted to extend a warm welcome to Daniel Ferreira, our new Digital Skills Agent, here at the North Carolina Cooperative Extension, Cherokee County Center. Danny brings a wealth of knowledge and a passion for empowering our community through digital literacy. Allow us to introduce you to Danny and his exciting journey ahead. The digital skills position was made possible by a grant from the North Carolina Department Of Information Technology.

Born in Boston, Danny first visited Cherokee County in 2006. After visiting with his family in Andrews during 2018, he relocated to the area during the following year. Danny graduated high school in Marblehead, Massachusetts, where he was a National Merit Scholar. Danny comes to Extension with many years of work and educational experience, including training customer service representatives and salespeople on how to use technological tools. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Columbia University and obtained his Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction at Pennsylvania State University.

A Vision for Progress: Danny recognizes the challenges faced by Cherokee County, where digital infrastructure and digital literacy have often been in short supply. He comes to the Cooperative Extension with a mission to bridge this gap. His goal is to provide the residents of Cherokee County with a solid foundation in computer skills and internet literacy, making these essential tools accessible to everyone.

Empowering the Community: Currently, Danny is hard at work developing engaging classes aimed at helping individuals avoid internet scams and ensure their PCs run smoothly over time. He is equipped with a mobile computer lab, which will enable him to take these vital lessons on the road to reach even the most remote corners of Cherokee County.
