District Activity Day Presenter Brings Home the Gold

Senior 4-H member, Eli Setless, did a great job at this years West District 4-H District Activity Day.  Each year hundreds of 4-H members work hard to get ready to compete in 4-H Presentations, public speaking competition.  Youth present information on the topic of their choice at the competition.

4-H Presentations are a huge part of North Carolina 4-H. It is one of the most successful way to help a young person learn how to do a public speech. It focuses on members teaching others what they know about a particular project/subject matter. They are sometimes called demonstrations or illustrated talk or a formal speech.

The speech/presentation should be between 5 and 12 minutes. District winners compete at the state level. State winners in sponsored categories receive cash awards! In specific categories, the State-winning seniors may go on to compete at the National level.

Eli won the Gold Medal for his presentation on an APP he would like to create called Farm Guard 360. The competition was held on June 14th at Western Carolina University. The category he presented in was Agricultural Safety & Health in the 14-18 age category .  Eli will attend 4-H Congress and State 4-H Presentations to compete once again with his gold medal presentation.

Eli is currently on a 4-H international exchange to Norway and will return just in time to attend state presentations.
