We will be at the Cherokee County Fair in Andrews, NC September 16 and 17.
Come See Us at the Cherokee County Fair!!
The staff and volunteers will have a host of activities and demonstrations for the two-day fair. Activities will include face painting, sand art, and a special appearance from Smokey Bear.
Some of the educational demonstrations will include:
- Bonsai Tree How To Demonstration, Kennesaw Taylor, Master Gardener
- Dehydrating Foods, Marlana Baker, Extension Staff
- Honey Extraction, Appalachian Beekeepers
- Making Apple Cider, Preston Mashburn, 4-H Volunteer
- Firewise Principles (prizes given away during the presentation), Douglas Clement, County Extension Director
- Face Painting, Cindy Chastain, Extension Staff and Holly Cole, Master Gardener
- Smokey Bear, Forest Service
- Ask a Master Gardener℠, Various Extension Master Gardener℠ Volunteers of Cherokee County
- Fly Tying Demonstrations, Cherokee on the Fly 4-H Club Members
Cherokee County 4-H Clubs will have members a the fair each day helping with a fishing game. We will also have 4-H Club members talking about the different 4-H activities and clubs available in Cherokee County. The Cherokee on the Fly 4-H Club members will be demonstrating fly tying and casting.
Master Gardeners will be available to answer questions about becoming involved in the popular program. We will also be giving away a Master Gardener Manual and free tuition for the 2023 training ($190.00 value).
We will have the event scheduled at the Fair. Our activities will begin at about 10 a.m. each day and conclude at about 6 p.m. See you at the Fair!!
