Attention Farmers and Farm Workers: Secure Up to $2,000 for an AED and Get a Free First Aid Kit!

 Local farmers and farm workers in Cherokee County have a unique opportunity to enhance farm safety and receive significant financial assistance for emergency equipment. The N.C. Cooperative Extension is partnering with the NC Agromedicine Institute to offer a free CPR, AED, and First Aid Training, which is a required step for eligible farm operations to receive up to a $2,000 rebate toward the purchase of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Funding made available by the North Carolina Tobacco Trust Fund Commission.

In addition to the rebate eligibility, the program is making five (5) farm-equipped first aid kits available exclusively to farmers and farm workers who attend the training.

Training Details

This comprehensive training is designed to equip attendees with life-saving skills crucial for farm environments.
  • What: Free CPR, AED, and First Aid Training.
  • When: Thursday, January 15, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (Noon).
  • Where: The Education Annex in Murphy, NC 28906.
  • Topics Covered: Life-saving CPR skills, directions for AED use, and first aid specifically for common agricultural injuries, including severe bleeding control, burns, and heat-related illness.

Exclusive Benefits for the Agricultural CommunityWhile the life-saving training is open to the general public, the following benefits are available only to farmers and farm workers:
  1. AED Rebate: Attendance at the training is mandatory to be eligible to receive up to $2,000 for the purchase of an AED for your farm operation.
  2. Free First Aid Kits: Five (5) farm-equipped first aid kits are available to eligible participants.
