Topics youth may learn about during 4-H Cooking 101, how to: use MyPlate; avoid spreading germs while cooking; measure and mix ingredients; test baked goods for doneness; brown meat; set the table for a family meal; understanding and preventing foodborne illnesses; thawing frozen foods; proper knife techniques; how to read Nutrition Facts labels; how to make soups, rice, and pasta; make bread; grilling meats, vegetables, and fruit; make butter. Youth may learn about: yeast, gluten, and different types of fats; herbs and spices and how to make ethnic foods; making cakes, candy, pastries, and pies. We will have fun and experience many different foods.
