The Stokes/Rockingham 4-H Livestock Team competed in the 2023 NC 4-H Livestock Contests July 26-28, 2023. Twelve 4-Hers from Stokes and Rockingham Counties competed in Quiz Bowl, Skillathon, and Livestock Judging. Youth are tested on their skill and knowledge of livestock during this contest.

From L to R: Coleman East, Nate Bowman, Ana McAuley, Michelle Hartman, Charlotte Payne, Maddie East, Lillian Garcia, Jolene Windsor, and Tucker East.

For our juniors, Tucker East, Lillian Garcia, and Carter Slate – 

In Skillathon, Tucker received 3rd in Quality Assurance, 10th in ID/Written Test, and 9th highest individual overall. In Livestock Judging, Lillian G. received 10th in cattle and Tucker E. received 10th in Swine.

For our intermediates, Maddie East, Charlotte Payne, Brayana McGhee, and Jolene Windsor- 

In Skillathon, Maddie E. received 10th in Quality Assurance. In Livestock Judging, Charlotte P. received 4th in Cattle.

For our seniors, Nate Bowman, Coleman East, Michelle Hartman, Ana McAuley, and Erica Shutsky-

In Skillathon, Erica S. received 4th in Quality Assurance, Coleman E. received 8th in Evaluation, and Michelle H. received 2nd in Evaluation, 2nd in Quality Assurance, and 3rd highest individual overall. The senior team (Erica, Michelle, Coleman, and Nate) received 2nd overall in Quality Assurance. 

In Livestock Judging, Coleman E. received 3rd in Goats, Nate B. received 10th in Goats and 8th in Swine, and Ana McAuley received 1st in Sheep, 4th in Cattle, 2nd in Oral Reasons, and 3rd highest individual overall. The Senior Team (Nate B., Coleman E., Michelle H., and Ana M.) received 1st in Goats and 2nd in Oral Reasons.
