2023 NC State 4-H Horse Show Dedication recipient, Karen Jones

On Friday, July 7, during the Opening Ceremonies of the 2023 NC State 4-H Horse Show, the show was officially dedicated to Karen Jones. Karen Jones has been a Harnett County and NC 4-H volunteer for over 17 years. Her selfless spirit and willingness to share her love of horses with 4-H members have made her an outstanding leader and volunteer. She is the current leader of the Silver Snaffles Club in Harnett County and has served as the Secretary for the South Central District for many years. Her involvement with 4-H began when her youngest daughter joined the local Harnett County club. She soon became the 4-H leader of Silver Snaffles and has continued to teach and share her love with the members since 2006. She has coached and supported 4-H youth at countless horse shows, including Horse Bowl, Hippology, and Horse Judging. In 2019, she led her group to be placed as the High Team in State Hippology. You can always find her volunteering at the South Central District and State Shows in whatever capacity she is needed. She has served as a show steward, pony measurer, and hospitality expert. Everyone who knows Karen will tell you that her kind and giving spirit make her not only an amazing person and friend but also an extraordinary leader. Although her daughter has long since aged out of 4-H, Karen continues to give back to the 4-H program. We cannot thank Karen enough for all that she has done and continues to do for the horse program and all of its participants and leaders.
