The Cherokee on the Fly 4-H Club is open for enrollment.

width="396" height="304" We hold our meetings on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month. Youth should come immediately after school, we will start the meetings by 3:30 p.m. The club meets at the Extension Education Room next to the Cherokee County Parks and Rec office behind the Old Rock Gym. The address is 699 Conaheeta Street, Murphy. Turn on Conaheeta Street and take the 2nd left turn. The first left on Conaheeta Street is the Murphy Fitness Center and the second left will take you behind the Old Rock Gym to the parking area for our meeting room. Look for the 4-H Clover Signs.

All youth grades 6-12, no matter what school or if youth are home-schooled are welcome to join. Students should check to see if they are allowed to ride a bus from the Murphy Middle & High School to Conaheeta Street. Meetings usually wrap up around 5 p.m. unless members need to finish up tying a fly. Parents should be ready to pick members up by 5 p.m.

width="190" height="146"The members learn to tie flies, learn how to cast so no previous experience is necessary. The club is free to join. Members will also be learning about the environment and different insects and creatures that they are tying fly’s to mimic.
