Soil Test Cost Update

— Written By

Soil testing is one of the best ways to have a successful home lawn and garden. Soil samples are analyzed by North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (NCDA&CS). Soil sample testing for homeowners is free from April 1–November 30, except for postage. There is a $4.00 fee from December 1–March 31, as well as, postage. Forms and soil sample boxes are available at the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Cherokee County Center.

The N.C. Cooperative Extension, Cherokee County Center also provides free delivery of soil samples in August, September, and October only. The samples are mailed/delivered at the end of each month to NCDA&CS. Soil test results are sent by email only by NCDA&CS.

If you do not have email, contact our office with an address and we can mail a copy to you. We can also help you interpret your results when you receive them.
