The Fuels Removal Program intends to reduce the wildfire risk by providing a road-side debris removal service. This is a free service to communities/homeowners within North Carolina. This program is funded by the North Carolina Community Firewise Mitigation Grant. Applications for the winter 2021 projects will be accepted beginning October 28, 2020. The deadline is December 4th. Applications from across the state will be ranked based on criteria listed in the program guidelines and selected projects will be bid out to contractors. After contracts have been awarded, communities will be notified and will have 3 weeks to construct piles of debris for removal based upon the guidelines. For further information contact Wesley Sketo at wesley.sketo@ncagr.gov or 828-556-0002.
