It is with a heavy heart I’m having to share this information with you. As per the request from NC State University and NC State Extension, all summer programming including 4-H summer camp at Betsy-Jeff Penn have been canceled.

Late Friday afternoon, we received final guidance from NC State University regarding summer 4-H programs. While the message specifically mentions camps, it refers to all K-12 face-to-face events and activities conducted by NC State University employees and representatives. This impacts residential camps held at our three 4-H camps/centers, events held on the NC State campus, and all face-to-face programs conducted in the counties until NC State Extension lifts restrictions on Extension programming.

4-H State Staff are heading up an effort to provide a virtual option for District Activity Days and State 4-H Presentation Finals, as well as virtual options for NC 4-H Congress and North Carolina Citizenship Focus. The camp leadership team will also be looking at ways to provide virtual opportunities at our camps.

So what are we doing in Caswell County to instill that your child will be able to participate in 4-H programming throughout the summer? Mrs. Brandi, 4-H Agent, and the rest of the N.C. Cooperative Extension of Caswell County staff will be working hard to bring you a virtual Summer Fun program. Information for this program will be coming out in mid-May, which is our usual time to sign up for 4-H Summer Fun. We are working to do everything we can to make summer as wonderful as possible. So please keep an eye out for information on 4-H programming.

We are all disappointed that we must take these actions but this is the responsible thing to do. Our greatest concern is for the health and safety of everyone. Please take all appropriate measures to protect yourself and others from COVID-19.

Keep up with NC State COVID-19 related updates and information.
