Fun at the West District 4-H Ag Day

Three 4-Her’s from Cherokee County 4-H Clubs attended the 1st West District 4-H Ag Day. Sidney Elliott, Grace Henderson, and Elsa Holland attended the event on November 3, 2018, at the Mountain Research Station in Waynesville, NC.

First the group participated in a tour of the Research Station. They were able to go and see the station via a farm tour tractor and trailer. It was a little cool on the tour but they got to see lots of stuff and hear about the different agricultural research being done at the station.

The group then went back inside to learn more about different agricultural opportunities through 4-H and opportunities for careers in agriculture in NC through different workshops hosted by 4-H agents and West District Teen Council.

They participated in egg production workshop, a lesson in alternative incomes through a corn maze, discussed showing animals through a unique beauty contest, discussed apples and the importance of the apple industry, and much, much more.

The group had a great time and wished it had lasted longer. We definitely want to do it again.
