Cherokee County Extension will be offering an Apple Tree Grafting Workshop to be held on Tuesday, February 28, 9:00 a.m., at the Cherokee County Extension office. If you are interested in learning the purpose and technique of grafting this may be for you. Participants will also have the opportunity to graft up to 5 trees on their own. We will supply the root-stock and plenty of scion wood from several varieties for the class to choose from. Some people have their favorite apple tree from their yard or a heirloom from a relative’s old home place. You can take a cutting (year old scion wood usually from a water sprout) and graft to root-stock provided. If you have certain varieties that you would like to graft, please notify us so that we can help you best select the appropriate grafting material. The fee for this will be $15 for up to 5 root-stocks. Please call Cherokee County Extension by February 24th to register, 837-2210.
