4-H Horse Club Members Are Expanding Their Interest

— Written By DrillTeamPractice

The Cherokee Rider’s 4-H Horse Club started a drill team in 2015 and they have been performing at local shows and at the county fair for the past two fairs. The young ladies that are on the team put in a lot of extra riding time which includes learning to work together with each other and each others horses.

Recently some of the young ladies had an opportunity to try out for another drill team, Sass and Saddles, in the boarding  county of Union County, Georgia at the Union County Saddle Club. Most of the youth already participate in Union County Saddle Club events since they are so close to us regionally which made it a perfect fit and opportunity for some of our members to try out for their drill team as well. Four of our young ladies from the club are now part of the Sass and Saddles Drill Team because of their hard work and dedication. Sass and Saddles participate in the opening ceremonies for many local and regional rodeo’s as well as Mounted Drill Team Competitions. The four young ladies that tried out and made it are: Emily Madrigal, Carly Hopkins, Grace Henderson, and Hannah Smith. We are very proud of these young ladies and wish them the best with this new endeavor.

Our current Cherokee Rider’s 4-H Horse Club drill team is made up of Emily Madrigal, Carly Hopkins, Grace Henderson, Hannah Smith, Sydney Elliott, Faith Ward, and  alternate Aleisha Roberts. Their coach is Erica Hedden. She puts in a lot of extra time volunteering with the drill team teaching them new riding techniques and drills.
