The Extension Office 4-H and Family and Consumer Science agents will be sponsoring a cooking contest to be held at the Cherokee Fair, scheduled for October 23rd through 25th of this year. There will be a Sweet division and a Savory Division. In each division there will be three levels of ages competing. Level 1 – ages 9-11; level 2 – ages 12-14; level 3 ages 15-18. Those wishing to participate are asked to complete an entry form and submit to Teresa Goley in the Extension Office by 5 p.m. on October 20, 2015. Then on Saturday, October 24, participants will bring their prepared dishes to the Agriculture Learning Center at the Mountain Folk Center between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. Our staff of judges will be tasting and rating each entry. The judging criteria includes appearance, taste, ease of preparation, nutritional value, and originality. The first place winners in each age division will receive a $25.00 cash prize. Second and third place winners will receive ribbons. We hope to see you at this years First Annual Cherokee County Cooking Contest!
